Rock The Shot Photo Challenge – “Dance Like No One is Watching”
I was so excited to see that Rock the Shots photo challenge for the month was “Dance Like No One is Watching.” Dancers push their bodies to the limits in order to express and create something of beauty. When I was growing up I wanted to be a dancer so badly but I just didn’t have it in me. I had the passion but I didn’t have the perseverance, the confidence, and I wasn’t stubborn enough to push through the pain. For this session I wanted to showcase Sam in a way which defined her grace in the open Colorado air. As we were driving up to our location for the session the clouds were brooding but we decided to push forward just in case it didn’t actually rain. The minute we parked and downloaded the equipment it started raining cats and dogs. We loaded everything back up and waited out the storm. Luckily for us it did. The outcome was amazing light. For this shot I used off camera flash to add some drama to the shot. This actually made the editing fairly easy since the drama was there. I was able to saturate the colors for her dress by bringing up the blue saturation slider in ACR. I did the same for the greens. After that is was a little skin softening and some minor retouching. I am in love with the outcome. Sam looks stunning.
Head over to Rock the Shot to see all of the amazing “Dance Like No One is Watching” submissions. They are gorgeous.
